Blog #8

Bare, nude, naked... There is a ton of ways to describe a situation where someone isn’t wearing clothes, but there is that one phrase that always sticks out. “In the buff” is a phrase that makes one smile whether it is spoken or read. This is because of its connotation. According to Google, its denotation is “completely unclothed.” All these words mean the same thing but “in the buff” makes one think if a person streaking across the football field or a baby swimming in the pool without a bathing suit. Either way, both examples leave fond memories. Even though all these words get the same meaning across, there are different connotations.
