Blog #7

In the book, The Secret Life of Bee’s, by Sue Monk Kidd, she argues that race is irrelevant. She uses the Boatwright sisters as the main examples of this. They are confident, self-sufficient, successful, and African American. They own a successful business and are well-respected in their community. In some parts of our world today, it doesn’t seem to matter about a person’s ethnicity. A person’s perceived character is more important. I feel that when this story took place; ethnicity was the biggest factor in the way someone was treated. She indirectly makes this argument and it is very powerful.
